Faf Du Plessis

Faf du Plessis is a strong contender for the Delhi Capitals captaincy role. Recently, in the CPL, under his leadership, Saint Lucia Kings won the cup. He captained RCB for three seasons, from 2022 to 2024, during which the team made it to the playoffs twice, making him a strong contender for the Delhi captaincy.

KL Rahul

Similar to Faf du Plessis, KL Rahul is also no stranger to the captaincy role, having already led Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants. He impressed as a leader, taking the team to the playoffs multiple times. Now, KL Rahul is with Delhi Capitals, as DC acquired him for INR 14 crore in the IPL mega auction. Not only is he known for his batting, with 4,683 runs in 132 IPL matches, but he also knows how to manage teams, making him one of the contenders for the DC captaincy in IPL 2025.

Axar Patel

There were already rumours in the IPL market, with reports suggesting that Axar Patel will lead the Delhi Capitals camp. This was one of the reasons why the team retained him at the hefty price of Rs 16.50 crore. The star all-rounder has performed consistently and always stepped up whenever the team needed him, which could make him a strong candidate for the captaincy role.
