ガバスカール氏は、シラージとアカシュはブムラに十分な支援を提供していないとし、ハルシット・ラナとプラシド・クリシュナはIND対AUSの第5回テストのイレブンに加えられるべきだと述べた。
Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar implored on the team to bring in Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana for IND vs AUS 5th Test instead of Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep. His remarks come in the backdrop of poor shows by both pacers in the Boxing Day Test, once again leaving Bumrah to do all the job alone. While Siraj went wicketless in the 1st innings, Akash managed to get just two wickets.
Gavaskar wants Siraj out of IND vs AUS 5th Test
Speaking on the show after play on Day 2, Gavaskar pointed out that Siraj needs to be told that he hasn’t been performing well, especially on pitches that offer support to pacer. He noted that the pacer must be told that he was going to be dropped and not that he was being rested, explaining that bowlers did not want to up their game when told that they were being given a break.
Additionally, Gavaskar said that both Siraj and Akash weren’t providing enough support to Bumrah and that the likes of Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna should be included in the XI instead of the Sydney Test. Gavaskar claimed that India could not win the current Test given the situation that they were in and said that in order for the team to win the 5th Test, they needed to exclude Siraj and Akash Deep.
Latest news
Siraj was smashed around for 122 runs in the 1st innings at the MCG and did not manage to take even a single wicket. Additionally, Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl the pacer for bursts of long spells came under fire, especially since he was ineffective against the Australian batters across two days of play. Meanwhile, Akash was criticised for not using the new ball efficiently on Day 2. While Siraj has taken 13 wickets so far in the ongoing BGT, it would be wise for India to drop the out-of-form pacer from the side for the final Test in order to fancy their chances of retaining the Trophy.
