Truth be told, India is in massive trouble in the second IND vs AUS Test in Adelaide. After being dismissed for a paltry 180, the Aussie batsmen took control of the match by ending the first day at 86. Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney are still at the crease and have already forged a partnership of 62.
The Indian bowling looked rather flat, with the pacers including Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj, trying short bowling, and sticking to an ‘outside-off’ line for most parts. Ashwin, on the other hand, had only one over to bowl in the day. But despite a poor day in the office, ex-India spinner Harbhajan Singh feels, the team can still make a comeback.
Speaking on Star Sports, he said, “Firstly, India should try to bundle out Australia at the earliest. And how will that happen? It would happen if the bowlers make the Aussie batsmen play a lot more deliveries. On day 1, there were a lot of deliveries that were left by the batsmen (Labuschagne and McSweeney) and were saved because of that. Now, I want them to attack the stumps and make the batsmen play, to get them out.
Secondly, the Indian bowlers should only go for shorter bursts of spells, and not the other way around, so that they don’t get tired. From one end it should be a fast bowler, and spinner from the other. And lastly, Australia shouldn’t be allowed to take a massive lead, if you can’t restrict them before your total. Chalo bhaiyon, chaa jao.”
