The India Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma roared back to form with a stunning century in the IND vs ENG 2nd ODI at Cuttack. However, former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar continues to have doubts regarding the Hitman. Manjrekar has claimed that Virat Kohli’s supreme fitness makes him different from others.

37-year-old Rohit Sharma slammed a 90-ball 119-run knock in Cuttack as Team India secured a 2-0 series win over the Three Lions. But Sanjay Manjrekar has questioned if Rohit can play consistent innings like these moving forward. He further added that despite Rohit’s heroics, the Indian skipper looked drained and fatigued towards the end of his knock.

Manjrekar questions Rohit Sharma’s fitness

“You could see it took a lot out of him that inning. Fifty overs cricket can be physically very demanding for bowlers, fielders, and batters. Virat Kohli knows how physically draining it can be, and that is why his fitness level has allowed him to still get those hundreds by running the ones and twos,” Manjrekar said on ESPNcricinfo.

Rohit Sharma has been under huge scrutiny from the board after his string of poor performances. In the Border Gavaskar Trophy, he managed to score just 31 runs from 5 innings. At Nagpur in the 1st ODI, he managed to score just 2 runs, further raising questions about his form. Now, Manjrekar claims that Rohit didn’t have to run much.

“Rohit Sharma had a different template where he didn’t have to run too much. It was amazing how he got his second double hundred. But at this stage of his career, when you watched him go through the whole process and get that big hundred, he wanted it. Whether he can do it day in and day out like he did in 2019, we will have to wait and see. I have my doubts. But both versions of Rohit Sharma 2019 and 2023 are excellent for Indian cricket,” said Manjrekar.
