Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to get a road named after him. The veteran, who has over 700 wickets to his name in international cricket, had announced his retirement earlier in December 2024. Now, a road that is in close proximity to Ashwin’s house, is set to be named after the legend. Incidentally, Ashwin had published his biography co-authored by a prominent journalist in June 2024, titled “I have the Streets.”

Ashwin now has Chennai road named after him

As per The Indian Express, the Ramakrishnapuram 1st Street in West Mambalam in Chennai will be renamed as Ravichandran Ashwin Road.

Ashwin, who started his IPL career with CSK, has been reunited with the franchise. He was bagged for Rs 9.75 crore after being released by RR ahead of the mega auction. The Tamil Nadu spinner has 180 wickets from 212 IPL matches. What makes the deal even more sweeter is his familiarity with the conditions in Chennai. He will spearhead the spin unit for Gaikwad and co. in the upcoming season.

He made his IPL debut back in 2009 and was a part of CSK till 2015.

He is a domestic stalwart for Tamil Nadu, with 779 first-class wickets and 236 List A wickets to his name.
