Ibrahim Zadran isn’t satisfied yet. Afghanistan may have knocked England out of the ICC Champions Trophy, but he has bigger fish to fry. Afghanistan takes on Australia in what will be a ‘quarterfinal’ where whichever team wins will move to the semifinal. But it’s not just about that.

Afghanistan will be ready for Australia, says Ibrahim Zadram
The Aussie and Glen Maxwell in particular crushed Afghanistan’s dream of making their first-ever semifinal of an ICC event in the ODI World Cup 2023. The Afghan Atalans finished sixth but could have qualified if they had beaten Australia that day in Mumbai.
Ibrahim vows to the Afghani fans that they will play even better than they did against England and will have a well-thought-out plan ready by February 28. “We will try to play even better in the next game. We will be playing against Australia, so we will try to make as few mistakes as possible. We will have a plan and do our best,” Ibrahim said after the match.

Going into a knockout match with confidence
Having broken his own record for the highest individual score in the ICC Champions Trophy and the Afghani record as well, Ibrahim remains confident before Australia faces off in Lahore.
“It means a lot to me (his innings); as much as you work hard, I was having trust in myself, and I wanted to keep on batting. That 177 is a special moment for me. We played here last time in the Asia Cup, so I had the idea. I wanted to take time and play proper cricketing shots, and that worked for me, so I’m happy. When you win a game, it gives you a lot of energy, and it gives you confidence,” Ibrahim added.
