インド対イギリス:コルカタでの最初の試合ではインドのスピナーが5/67で勝利したが、ハリー・ブルックは市内のスモッグが違いを生んだと主張した。
If you thought that the England team succumbed to Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel‘s spin, think again. India’s spin attack in Kolkata claimed 5/67, but all that could be due to ‘smog’ in the city. Or so suggested England batter Harry Brook on Friday, during a PC. The visitors had lost the 1st IND vs ENG T20I by seven wickets.
Harry Brook, Kolkata & Smog
On Saturday, the two teams will be up against each other once again, but this time in Chennai, but Brook hopes that the smog will be better in the Southern city of the country. “Chakravarthy is an exceptionally good bowler,” Brook said. “But with the smog the other night, it was a lot harder to pick. Hopefully the air is a bit clearer here and we can see the ball a bit easier.”
Brook got out for 17 in 14 deliveries in the first match, and could struggle against the spinners. “Facing spin in T20 cricket is probably the hardest thing in the game, especially because I always get out trying to absolutely smack it,” he said. “Maybe I’ve got to rein in a little bit, but we’ll see.”

“I think I do have a method. It’s just trying to do it consistently and more often. I come in in the middle order, so the first few balls I face are usually off spin. If I get out early, it’s usually against a spinner, so maybe my stats aren’t as good against spin, but there’s always going to be criticism in some parts.”
But having said that, Brook did have a ton against KKR, in IPL 2023, where he smacked Varun Chakravarthy. “I was going to watch it on the way in (to Friday’s practice session) but my phone wouldn’t work, so I’ll have a look a little bit later,” he added.
