IPL 2025 opener between KKR and RCB saw yet another moment where fan craze for Virat Kohli peaked. Rajat Patidar and co. clinched a convincing 7-wicket win against the defending champions at the Eden Gardens on Saturday, with the batting maestro staying unbeaten at the end of the run-chase on 59. While the sight of Kohli pumping his first half-century 9 months after his international retirement was a sight for sore eyes, it was this fan’s actions that delighted the crowd in Kolkata.

Fan hugs Kohli, refuses to let go of him
As soon as Kohli brought up his half-century, a fan was seen sprinting all the way from the boundary line towards the batter after dodging security. On reaching the batter, he fell on his feet and then was seen clinging on to the RCB star. Virat even gave him a warm embrace before he was pulled away by security. The fan’s actions were cheered by the crowd in Kolkata.
Kohli – the chase master
Virat’s knock on Saturday showed that he had lost no love for the shortest format of the game. The RCB star looked in the zone and very much at a comfortable position in a situation he loves the most – a run-chase. His 59-run knock was studded with 4 fours and 3 sixes, striking at 163.89.
He set the tone for RCB’s run-chase with a 95-run partnership with Phil Salt. He then allowed skipper Rajat Patidar to fire at will while anchoring the innings from the other end. Eventually, RCB wrapped up the run-chase with 3.4 overs to spare, starting their IPL 2025 campaign on a dominating note.
