サンジュ・サムソンはインド代表としての最後の50オーバー出場でODIセンチュリーを記録した。
The world of cricket can be cruel, and no one knows this better than Sanju Samson right now. A rising star whose potential seems perpetually trapped between brilliance and bureaucracy, Samson finds himself at a crossroads with the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) after being dropped from the Vijay Hazare Trophy squad due to alleged disciplinary issues. This is at least what reports suggested. The controversy has been elevated now, with Samson’s father suggesting other state associations to sign him as KCA is not “keeping it safe.”
KCA vs Sanju Samson
The circumstances surrounding Samson’s exclusion have become increasingly controversial. Reports indicate that his absence from essential training sessions led to his being left out not only from the ODI series against England but also from the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy squad. Meanwhile, the Kerala Cricket Board (KCA) has not shown any remorse, placing the blame squarely on Samson.
In an emotional interview with Sports Tak, Viswanath Samson opened up about his family’s grievances with the KCA. He claims that there is a targeted effort to undermine his son’s career, saying, “I knew about six months ago that they are planning something against Sanju. KCA were plotting things in a way that he left Kerala. We couldn’t fight with them. There are directors there. You can’t talk back to them; you can’t challenge them. My child is not safe. They will put the blame on Sanju for everything and people will believe them too,” Viswanath said.
Samson to play for other state?
Viswanath passionately called on other state cricket associations to give Sanju a chance, stating, “So I really want that my son stops playing cricket for Kerala. If any state wants to give my son a chance, saying ‘Sanju, come and play for us’, I am willing to make that appeal. He has devoted 30 years of his life to cricket, but he is being isolated now. I have had enough; I want to get him out of this association (KCA),” he added. There were previous reports that other states, including Karnataka, are interested in having Samson, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper.
While Sanju Samson has made a place for himself in the T20I setup, his spot in the ODI format is up in the air. While he scored a century in his last ODI appearance, his non-selection over Rishabh Pant isn’t something that many Samson fans imagined.
