GMR は、インディアン プレミア リーグ、メジャー リーグ クリケット、ILT20、ウィメンズ プレミア リーグ、SA20 の 5 つのフランチャイズ リーグのチームを所有しています。
Delhi Capitals co-owner GMR Group hasn’t decided whether they want to make a move to Australia. Having already acquired 56% of the shares in Hampshire County Cricket Club, GMR has made inroads in English Cricket and could possibly enter The Hundred soon via Southern Brave.
Delhi Capitals in BBL?
It was indicated that GMR might enter the Big Bash League (BBL) as well. In early January, they travelled to Sydney and had a chat with Cricket New South Wales (CNSW). But according to PKSV Sagar, the president of GMR Sports Ventures Pvt Ltd, it was nothing but a simple visit.
“An opportunity came up to be in Sydney, so we went to see the Test (fifth and final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at the SCG). We got introduced to various people during the match and we just went around and saw what was there. They (NSW officials) told us, ‘why don’t you see the facilities? So we went around and looked at the facilities’. But otherwise everything else that’s being talked about is premature,” PKSV Sagar told Cricbuzz.
No Sydney Capitals yet
GMR already has their arms in multiple pockets all over the world. UAE’s ILT20 (Dubai Capitals), South Africa’s SA20 (Pretoria Capitals), the USA’s Major League Cricket (Seattle Orcas), India’s IPL and WPL (Delhi Capitals and Delhi Capitals Women). Of course the Hampshire County Cricket Club. But they aren’t entering Australia or the BBL just yet.
“So even to conclude that anything will come out of it is speculative. We are honestly all over the world. Like I said, our vision is cricket outside India. We would analyze if something comes up in due course,” PSKV Sagar added.
