Smith’s century against India cemented his status as the most prolific batter in Test cricket against the subcontinental powerhouse. His 11 Test centuries against India now stand as the highest by any player, surpassing England’s Joe Root, who has 10.

This achievement brings Smith closer to former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting’s record of 41 Test centuries, the highest by an Australian batter.
