It was on August 29, 2014, when Martin Crowe coined the term “Fab Four.” Steve Smith, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli—four pillars of modern-day batting who transpired generations with their mastery of batting. Kane Williamson beats Virat Kohli in a major feat
What a moment for Kane Williamson! The former New Zealand skipper achieved a fantastic feat, becoming the second-fastest player to reach 7,000 runs in ODIs. Williamson accomplished this milestone in just 159 innings, surpassing Virat Kohli’s record of 161 innings. He’s now only behind Hashim Amla, who reached the mark in 150 innings.

Williamson’s innings was a masterclass, as he scored 133 off 113 balls, including 13 fours and two sixes. His century was his first in ODIs since the 2019 World Cup, and it helped New Zealand chase down a target of 305 against South Africa. With this win, New Zealand has qualified for the final of the Pakistan Tri-Nation series, where they’ll face the winner of the Pakistan-South Africa match. Earlier in the match, Matthew Breetzke scored a stupendous 150, becoming the first-ever player to do so in an ODI debut.
