A cricket fan who was eager to click a picture with one of Australia’s promising young players Sam Konstas, ended up in a bit of trouble in a hilarious car crash. A video shared on Sydney Thunder’s Instagram on Wednesday captured a 19-year-old arriving for training. As Konstas wheeled his kit along, a fan jumped out of his car to approach him for a photo. But in his excitement, the fan forgot to set the handbrake, and his car rolled into another parked vehicle. The caption on the Thunder’s post humorously called it “The Konstas effect,”. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.

Sam Konstas has rapidly gained fame with his superb performances recently He made headlines with twin centuries for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield competition. His outstanding display earned him a spot in the Australian team in the IND vs AUS Test series, as he played in the Boxing Day Test, where he scored a crucial 60 against a tough Indian bowling side. His confident performance against India drew mixed reactions but won him many fans back home as he scored 123 runs in 4 innings in the trophy.
Konstas controversy
Sam Konstas came into the controversy as well during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 after having verbal exchanges with India’s star players Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah on separate occasions. Currently, the talented right-handed opener is playing in the Big Bash League for the Thunder and recently scored a half-century in their victory over the Perth Scorchers. Konstas is set to join the Test squad on their tour to Sri Lanka soon, with a chance to play in the upcoming two-match series.
