ブラッド・ホッグ氏は、BCCIの新しいホームステイ規定が、テストクリケットですでに調子に悩んでいるヴィラト・コーリにさらにストレスを与える可能性があると考えている。
Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg believes that the BCCI’s new rules on family stays during foreign tours might increase pressure on Virat Kohli. Kohli has been struggling with his form in Test cricket, having scored only 382 runs from 19 innings with an average of 22.47. Questions about his place in the team are circulating due to his extended poor performance. Hogg shared his perspective, mentioning that Kohli’s off-field commitments, especially after starting a family, have affected his on-field performance.
Personal commitments are a factor
Hogg stressed that Kohli’s personal life is taking a toll on his game, emphasising that it’s not just cricket causing his struggles but also off-field matters. Hogg believes that these distractions might be contributing to Kohli’s current dip in form. “He (Kohli) has got a family now. He has other commitments off the field that he did not have when he was really dominating all three formats around the globe. So it is not just about the cricket, it is what’s happening off the field as well. I think it is more the drama off-field than on-field for Virat. I just think he has just got too much on his plate that has probably caused him to not perform as well at this moment,” he said on his youtube channel.
Impact of BCCI’s new rules
Hogg also expressed concerns about the BCCI’s new family stay restrictions. “With the new rules that the BCCI has brought in, in regards to families, that’s gonna put even more stress on Virat… because you gotta have that balance,” he mentioned. Hogg feels that players should have ample time with their families during tours due to the hectic cricket schedule and extensive travel that the Indian team endures.
Agarkar’s take on BCCI regulations
Meanwhile, chief selector Ajit Agarkar stated that BCCI’s new rules aren’t a punishment for the players. The recent changes, implemented after losing series to New Zealand and Australia, require all players to travel with the team and limit family stays. Agarkar emphasised that every sports team has guidelines that players must adhere to, and these new regulations are part of ensuring discipline and focus in the team. The impact of these rules on team performance remains to be seen in the coming months.
