A 10th-grade student, Ankit Chatterjee, has etched his name in the record books. He broke the record of legendary Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and became the youngest player to debut for the Bengal team in the Ranji Trophy. Chatterjee made his debut against Haryana at the age of 15 years and 361 days.

Sourav Ganguly made his first-class debut for Bengal during the 1989–90 Ranji Trophy final. At just 17 years old, he played the match at Eden Gardens against Delhi.
