Digvess Rathhi “Notebook”は、熱い水とBCCIの水で足をgedlexにします。この物議を醸す態度が彼を傷つけられていることを知る

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took disciplinary action against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler Digvesh Singh Rathi for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during a match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Digvesh was fined 25% of his match fees and received one demerit point for his animated “notebook” celebration after dismissing PBKS opener Priyansh Arya.

What happened between Rathi and Arya?

The incident happened during the penultimate ball of the third over of PBKS’s chase. Digvesh bowled a short and wide delivery to Priyansh Arya, who attempted a pull shot but ended up top-edging the ball. Shardul Thakur took a sharp catch to dismiss Arya for 8 runs off 9 balls. As Arya walked back, Digvesh mimicked writing in an imaginary notebook, a gesture which is very similar of West Indies bowler Kesrick Williams’ signature celebration.

Reactions to the celebration

The umpires took note of Digvesh’s celebration and discussed it with him on the field. While Digvesh admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 and accepted the sanction, the celebration did not sit well with legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. During the commentary, Gavaskar said, “I can understand the celebration if the wicket comes after the batsman hit a boundary or a six in the previous ball. As a bowler, you’ve got six deliveries. So if you got five dot balls and get a wicket of the sixth, then you do something like that, it’s not understandable. But all these gestures mean that you don’t expect to get a wicket. And now that you’ve got a wicket, you’re trying to, you know, show off.”

PBKS seals the match

Digvesh Singh Rathi was one of the better performers in an otherwise disappointing outing for the LSG bowlers, picking up two wickets for 30 runs in his four overs. Unfortunately, none of the other LSG bowlers made any impact, as PBKS chased down the 173-run target in just 16.2 overs.

PBKS secured the win with half-centuries from opener Prabhsimran Singh (69 runs off 34 balls) and captain Shreyas Iyer (52* runs off 30 balls). This victory promoted PBKS to the second spot on the points table, where they are tied with RCB and DC at four points each, following their respective wins in the first two matches and remains unbeaten so far.
