Indian women’s doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand have achieved their highest-ever world ranking of 11th in the latest BWF World Rankings. The duo, who exited in the group stage of the BWF World Tour Finals last week, made a remarkable two-spot jump, reflecting their recent strong performances.

Meanwhile, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the only Indian pair and players in the top 10 across all categories, are currently ranked 9th. They’ve had limited participation since the Paris Olympics due to Satwik’s injury. The pair will begin the upcoming season under their former coach Tan Kim Her, following the departure of Mathias Boe.

Impressive show at the tour finals

Treesa and Gayatri had a promising outing at the World Tour Finals. They defeated Malaysia’s higher-ranked pair Pearly Tan and Thinnah Muralitharan and almost edged out the World No. 1 Chinese pair, Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning. Earlier in November, they clinched the Syed Modi India International Super 300 title in Lucknow, further solidifying their position on the global stage.

Another Indian women’s doubles pair, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto, are ranked 16th globally, making them the second-highest-ranked Indian pair in the category.

Lakshya Sen leads Indian men’s singles, PV Sindhu climb in women’s

Olympic medalist PV Sindhu climbed to 15th in the world rankings after her impressive performances at the Syed Modi India International.

Looking ahead to 2025

As the 2024 BWF season concludes, Indian shuttlers aim for greater consistency and stronger performances in the upcoming 2025 season. With significant talent across categories, Indian badminton is set to scale new heights.
