The Haryana pacer has had an impressive run in Ranji Trophy 2024-25, emerging as one of the leading wicket-takers for his side. If CSK were bothered by the fact that they let go of Deepak Chahar, then they need not worry as they seem to have found the perfect replacement for him.

Kamboj has 35 wickets to his name and counting so far in Ranji Trophy 2024-25. Apart from his best figures of 10/49 in the ongoing season – a phenomenal feat – he averages a brilliant 11.56. Having conceded just 370 runs from 858 deliveries, the Haryana pacer has shown his capability to deliver with the new ball. The latest testament to that is his bullet to dismiss Ayush Mhatre for a golden duck in the Ranji quarterfinal clash against Mumbai on Saturday.

Deepak Chahar’s long association with CSK came to an end as he was bagged by Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 auction. He was one of Dhoni’s trusted lieutenants with the new ball, having great ability to swing the ball and bring wickets. The five-time champions will not be bothered by his departure as they have found the perfect replacement for him in terms of a pacer delivering in both the powerplay and death overs.
Having been with CSK since 2018, Chahar has 77 wickets to his name in the IPL so far. His best season for Dhoni and co. came in 2019 when he finished the edition with 22 wickets to his name. Not only was he a consistent wicket-taking bowler before injuries boggled him, he was also a go-to bowler who could do serious damage control.
Meanwhile, Kamboj has played just 3 IPL games so far. He now moves to CSK from MI. He did not have a great run as he conceded 114 runs from 60 deliveries since making his debut in 2024. However, his red-hot form from recent times makes him one of the most lethal bowlers for CSK in IPL 2025.
