アーシュディープ・シンは、インドの T20I 史上トップのウィケットテイカーになるまであとわずか 2 ウィケットです!
While the entire Indian team had a successful practice session at the Eden Gardens on January 19, Arshdeep Singh wasn’t available. The left-arm pacer, who recently got selected in India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy, didn’t join the Men in Blue due to some personal work. InsideSport has an exclusive development that the Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer will join the Suryakumar Yadav-led team later today (Jan 19).
No Arshdeep Singh in IND vs ENG yet
The Indian team is looking to bounce back from their disappointing 3-1 loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, and they’re starting their preparations for the upcoming T20I series against England. The team arrived at the Eden Gardens, the venue for the first T20I, and got straight to work. Coach Gautam Gambhir, who’s been under a lot of pressure lately, was one of the first to step off the team bus and lead the charge. Mohammed Shami, who’s making a comeback to international cricket after over a year, joined the team along with Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson. Suryakumar Yadav had a quiet training session. Meanwhile, we will update on how Shami and other pacers did.
As for Arshdeep, he will join the team later and will attend the team’s training session on January 20. The 25-year-old nonetheless might just need an extra rest day as he was part of a gruelling Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), where he ended up as the highest wicket-taker with 20 scalps at 18.25.
Arshdeep Singh: Pacer to watch out for
Despite being in India’s T20I squad for the IND vs ENG series, one should not expect him to play all five T20Is. This is due to the fact that he will be tested in the 50-over format as well. As you already know, Arshdeep is among India’s Champions Trophy squad as well, meaning he will get a look-in during the IND vs. ENG ODIs too, that start from February 6.
Notwithstanding the fact that Arshdeep has played just 60 T20Is for India, he stands on the verge of becoming the most successful T20I bowler ever for the nation. He currently sits second on the list with 95 scalps at 18.10. Above him is Yuzvendra Chahal with 96 wickets. One stellar performance of two wickets will etch Arshdeep in the history books, a confidence he would definitely carry going into the Champions Trophy.
