モハメド・シャミの最後の国際試合は、2023年のODIワールドカップ決勝のオーストラリア戦だった。
Ace India Cricket Team pacer Mohammed Shami is set to make his India team return in the IND vs ENG 1st T20I. But ahead of the game, Shami continues to be quite rusty. He has bowled for more than an hour on Sunday but looked quite rusty. Shami is not 100% fit and had strapping on his left knee.
Mohammed Shami had full caution on his left knee in a bid to reduce effort on his injured knee. He began the spell barely with a couple of yards of walking, bowling to Morne Morkel. He bowled individually for a short while which was a part of his initial warmup. Then he joined the team huddle and took part in extensive fielding practice in the first half of the training.
Shami then started to gain composure as he took on the predicted Indian openers. He started bowling slowly with very short run-ups to Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. This continued for quite some time as he gradually started to increase his pace and run-up length.
However, after 20 minutes, he took to his original run-up position and started bowling at full throttle. He was nowhere at his best. Dhruv Jurel tanked hard at the batter slamming the balls hard. The bowler looked quite uneasy and started to find his rhythm slowly. He then found his groove when he went on to beat Tilav Varma quite a few times.
It was like the original Shami was back. That same pace and line and length. Varma was comfortably beaten on the yorkers, indicating that Shami has still got in his tank. As things stand, Shami’s last International outing came in the ODI World Cup final against Australia. And now after 1 year and 2 months later, he is all set to make a comeback for the Men in Blue.
