In IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans will start their campaign today with their first match against Punjab at their home ground, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Star pacer Kagiso Rabada will be playing for Gujarat Titans this year, as Punjab Kings released him before the mega auction last year.

Kagiso Rabada believes that cricket has become just about batting, and he doesn’t want that. Last year, SRH created a record by smashing 287 runs in 20 overs, and in an earlier match of IPL 2025, another team scored 286 runs against Rajasthan Royals. It now seems possible to achieve 300 runs in 20 overs in this format.

Rabada on batting-dominant cricket

Rabada is really disappointed with the way cricket is going. He believes it has become all about batting and not cricket because it’s a one-man show where only the batsmen dominate the game. “The game has to progress somehow, but I don’t think it can just get too flat, like every single game. It would take the fun out of it. You know, then you might as well call our sport Batting, and not Cricket. I have no issues with a few records being broken, that’s fine. High-scoring games are good, but so are low-scoring games. But you can’t have it tilting either side too dramatically, there needs to be a balance that is maintained between bat and ball,” he said, as reported by Indian Express.

Rabada on revoking of saliva ban

Rabada is optimistic about the lifting of the saliva ban in IPL 2025. He believes that both saliva and sweat have different roles, and it would be really exciting. “Using saliva and sweat are two different aspects. They have different textures, though I can’t explain scientifically how it affects the ball. Let’s see how this IPL goes with saliva being used again. It’s definitely interesting,” he added.
