Even in T20 cricket, one can never ignore the importance of basics. While fielding, or taking high catches, it is of utmost importance that fielders call — “it’s mine”. But then what do you do when the two converging fielders don’t pay heed to the calls, collide and then drop the catch. That is what happened between RCB keeper Jitesh Sharma and bowler Yash Dayal, who attempted to catch a skier from Suryakumar Yadav in the 12th over of the MI chase.

Virat Kohli started things off well scoring 67 from 42. Devdutt Padikkal chipped in with a brisk 37 from 22, and then Jitesh ended the proceedings with a grand 40 from 19.

It is important to note that RCB has not beaten MI at Wankhede Stadium, since 2015. But then Monday’s match presented a golden opportunity to Rajat Patidar’s team to improve their record.
