KKRは、3つの異なるサスペンションを試している間、日本人がIPL 2025で去ることを許可することを嫌がります

Kolkata Knight Riders find themselves posed with a unique problem ahead of their clash against PBKS. The defending champions happen to be the only side in IPL 2025 without a 50+ opening stand so far. For the record, KKR have played 8 matches so far out which they have managed to win just three while have lost five.

KKR’s opening woes

So far, KKR have tried three opening combinations so far this season. The most frequent one is also the one that has failed the most – the duo of Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock. As a pair, the Proteas star and the Caribbean all-rounder have managed to put up a highest opening stand of 46 runs.

Breaking down player-wise data, de Kock has managed to score just 143 runs from 7 matches, averaging just 23.83. This includes just one half-century so far in IPL 2025. His partner Narine has 147 runs from 7 innings and averages 21.00. Clearly, the duo have failed to fire in IPL 2025, especially Narine.

Next, KKR tried to get Moeen Ali to open the innings in the game against RR in the absence of Narine. He only managed to score five runs before he was sent packing thanks to a run out.

Over the next five games, either Narine or de Kock or both have managed to get dismissed within the powerplay, a worrying sign for KKR. In their previous game, the team decided to bench de Kock for Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the playing XI. However, that plan backfired as the Afghan star managed to score just one run before Siraj sent him packing in the fifth ball of the very first over.

Can Rahane solve KKR’s opening issues?

KKR could find a solution to their opening woes in the form of captain Ajinkya Rahane. He is the side’s most consistent batter in IPL 2025 so far and is also the leading run-scorer for the team. The veteran has 271 runs from 8 matches, averaging 38.71 and boasts of a strike rate of 146.48.

On most occasions, Rahane has come out to bat pretty much as an opener since de Kock and Narine were dismissed with the powerplay. Besides, it is pertinent to point out that the Mumbai batter finished the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as the leading run-scorer. He did so by playing as an opener for Mumbai in the entire tournament.
