NFL free agency’s so-called “legal tampering” period starts Monday at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT. The news cycle apparently didn’t get that memo.
Sunday was a day full of blockbuster deals, though a couple were monster extensions for superstars remaining with their teams.
A broad recap:
Plus: Guard Trey Smith reportedly signed his $23.4 million franchise tag with the Kansas City Chiefs and will now look to negotiate a longer-term deal. Linebacker Harold Landry reportedly agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with the New England Patriots. Linebacker Ernest Jones IV reportedly agreed to a three-year, $33 million extension with the Seattle Seahawks with $15 million guaranteed. Left tackle Jake Matthews reportedly agreed to a two-year, $45 million extension to stay with the Atlanta Falcons.
More blockbusters are surely coming soon. Stay updated with all the latest news and analysis right here.

Zach Ertz rejoins Commanders on $6.25 million deal
Zach Ertz apparently liked the Commanders’ offense. The veteran tight end is re-signing with Washington on a one-year, $6.25 million deal after one season with the team. After rough end to his career with the Arizona Cardinals, he ranked second on D.C. in receiving yards with 654 catching passes from Jayden Daniels.
