Shubman Gill has been the Gujarat Titans‘ regular captain since last year. However, the IPL 2024 didn’t go his way and the Prince of Indian cricket looked a bit timid. But now an ICC Champions Trophy winner and the world’s numero uno ODI batter, things have been more grandeur for Gill. He looks more confident now and starting IPL 2025 against PBKS should make things easy for him.
Why? Well, the GT captain has a tremendous record against his state team’s franchise. He loves dominating the PBKS bowling unit. Only last year, he scored an 89* off just 48 balls. It was on a slightly difficult track where no other GT batters scored over 35. Overall since 2022, Gill has had an exceptional record while batting against PBKS. In the last 5 outings, he has scored 296 runs at a mind-boggling average and SR of 74.00 and 155.00, with a highest score of 96.
Gill also has a tremendous record while batting in Ahmedabad. In IPL, Gill scores an average of 63.5 per innings at the venue. Also, his only T20I century for India came at this venue only when he clubbed a famous 126 off 63 balls against New Zealand in 2023. PBKS would love to see Gill’s back early in the match. Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal should come up with a plan to counter his flamboyance.
