Chennai Super Kings had an awful day on the field against PBKS, with multiple dropped catches giving enough lifelines to Iyer & co. to power them to a mammoth total. CSK suffered their fourth successive defeat in IPL 2025, going down by 18 runs to the hosts. Coach Stephen Fleming had nothing but the poor catching to blame for the team’s defeat.

CSK coach unhappy with fielding quality

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Fleming admitted that CSK had lost the game on field, thanks to their poor catching. He pointed out that the team’s quality of fielding as been such throughout IPL 2025, flagging it as a huge concern. He also attempted to blame the llight, claiming that both sides had faced issues with catches.

It’s been a frustrating season so far. The catching has been poor, but it was poor from both sides tonight. Whether it was something in the light I’m not sure but certainly for us that was an area of concern,” Fleming said.

All dropped catches by CSK

  1. 0.2 – Khaleel drops Arya
  2. 4.2 – Vijay Shankar drops Stoinis
  3. 11.2 – Mukesh drops Arya
  4. 16.4 – Ravindra drops Shashank

CSK made a blunder by dropping Arya mutiple times. They had the opportunity to dismiss him when he was on just 6 runs in the very first over, but missed it. Once again, he was dropped on 73 runs in the 12th over. He eventually went on to score 103 runs off 42 deliveries.

The game was really lost in the field, I thought we were sloppy in the field, and we just lacked accuracy under pressure at certain times,” Fleming added.
