PSLの試合がアメリカで？ PCBは米国クリケット市場への参入を望んでおり、さらに2チームを導入する準備ができている

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is eyeing to enter the American cricket market as it has ambitious plans to take Pakistan Super League (PSL) to the USA. In an attempt to capture a share of the market dominated by Indian team owners, PCB officials are reportedly in the USA mulling the possibility of adding two more teams and possibly hosting PSL matches there in the future. This is the latest attempt of the PCB to try and boost the popularity of the league as it tries to take on the IPL.

PSL to head to the USA?

As per Cricket Pakistan, two Pakistan individuals who are reportedly investors in American cricket have expressed interest in buying two PSL franchises. The report states that while discussions are underway, one of them is expected to secure a team. Further, the PCB is also exploring the possibility of hosting PSL matches in the USA in the future. It is pertinent to point out that several IPL team owners have invested in the Major League Cricket (MLC) as well as in other T20 leagues across the globe including ILT20, SA20 and more. Pakistan’s attempt to venture into the USA market aims at taking on these IPL heavyweights.

Further, the report states that PSL chairman Salman Nasser is currently touring various cities in the USA. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi also held discussions regarding cricket-related opportunities in the USA during his recent visit to the country.

Earlier, the PCB had mulled holding PSL 10 matches in England. However, the latter had refused citing venues being occupied due to County Championship matches. While the PCB has officially begun its attempts to enter the American market, it remains to be seen if such efforts will fructify.

In its efforts to woo foreign players to boost the popularity of PSL 10, the PCB has decided to shell out $100,000 each to elite foreign players. These stars include several IPL discards including David Warner, Kane Williamson and others. This year’s edition of the tournament is all set to clash with IPL 2025, a daring move by the PCB which is expected to see most of the star power prefer the cash rich league over PSL.
