India cricket team batter Shreyas Iyer brushed aside reports of Mohammed Shami suffering an injury in IND vs PAK tie. The pacer had walked off the field after bowling three overs at the start of the match. He was seen clutching his leg in discomfort while he was being attended to by the physio on the sidelines.

“Shami and Rohit are okay”

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Iyer said that both Shami and Rohit were okay. He categorically stated that there was no injury concern for Team India. While Shami faced discomfort in his leg, captain Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury scare following the departure of Babar Azam. However, the Indian skipper had later said that he was okay at the moment.

“What I have seen, they (Shami and Rohit) are okay. To my knowledge, I don’t think there’s an injury concern in the team,” Iyer said.

The star pacer had a horrible start in the India vs Pakistan clash as he bowled as many as five wide deliveries, dishing out 11 balls in his first over. Now we know that his leg injury might have played a part. After bowling three overs, Shami went out of the playing field and Rohit Sharma was forced to bring in Hardik Pandya.

Shami was seen with a strapping on his right leg as well, the same leg he endured discomfort as well. He had to take a break in the middle of his third over and was forced to go out for a recovery in the match. He then returned to the field to bowl the 12th over and looked in much better touch.
