Smriti Mandhana had an extraordinary 2024 in One Day Internationals (ODIs), establishing herself as a standout performer in women’s cricket. Due to this, Smriti Mandhana has been named as the Women’s ODI player of the year. The left-handed opener scored a career-best 747 runs in 13 matches, leading the charts with an average of 57.86 and a strike rate of 95.15. Her consistency and ability to shine against top opposition were evident, as she smashed four centuries, a record in women’s ODIs, and hit over 100 boundaries during the year.
Smriti Mandhana surely deserves this!
Mandhana’s year included several iconic performances, such as back-to-back hundreds against South Africa, a decisive century in a series decider against New Zealand, and a valiant 105 against Australia at Perth. Despite India losing that game, her innings stood out against one of the strongest bowling attacks in cricket history, with her 105 accounting for nearly half of India’s total.
Her dominance extended to the ICC Women’s Championship, where she amassed 1358 runs across 24 matches, topping the run-scoring charts. Mandhana’s stellar performances earned her the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year award for the second time, cementing her status as a premier batter in world cricket.
