India cricket team star Shreyas Iyer has pipped Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy to be named ICC’s Player of the Month (March). The middle-order star, who was snubbed from the BCCI central contracts in 2024, finished as the highest run-scorer for the team in the Champions Trophy. Iyer’s redemption arc started with his consistent performances in domestic cricket followed by his comeback to the national team, and finished on a high note by leading India to victory in CT 2025.

Iyer amassed 243 runs for India in the Champions Trophy, executing his role as the number 4 batter to perfection. He was snubbed from the BCCI Central contracts and the T20 World Cup team in 2024 despite leading KKR to another IPL trophy. However, he made his way back to the side and did not waste any time in proving why he was India’s best number 4 batter in the 50-over format.

“I’m truly honored to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month where we lifted the ICC Champions Trophy — a moment I will cherish forever,” Iyer said.

In March 2025, Iyer scored 172 runs across three matches in March, averaging 57.33, with a modest strike rate of 77.47.

Shreyas is currently leading Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. His prolific form from the domestic season and CT 2025 has spilt into the IPL as well. He has three 50+ scores from five matches for PBKS so far in the ongoing season.
