Rajasthan Royals’ young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal shares about his unique approach to training on the nets. The 23-year-old believes that making scenarios during the practice helps him to play in different situations during the match. Along with sharing his training approach, he also goes full praise for Rahul Dravid, the former India captain and current coach of Rajasthan Royals. He feels that Dravid plays an important role in building confidence and offering the right advice to players. He shared all this in an interview with Star Sports.

Jaiswal’s unique training

In practice, Jaiswal imagines different match situations to improve his skills. He shares, “If the situation demands that I score 15 runs off six balls, I will go for it. If I need to play 50 balls and score 10 runs, I can do that as well. During practice, I create different match scenarios in my mind—how to chase a target, how to rotate the strike, and how to adapt to various situations. Preparing for that requires significant mental conditioning as well. So, for me, it’s about continuously understanding and refining my approach to the game.”

Learning from Dravid

Jaiswal talks about how lucky he feels to have Rahul Dravid around in the dressing room. He said, “He is also an incredible human being. Having someone like Rahul Dravid Sir in this era is a privilege and seeing him up close is an opportunity to learn—not just about cricket, but also about the way he carries himself off the field.” Jaiswal admires Dravid’s calm and steady nature.

Preparing for Different Formats

Jaiswal, who got scores like 1, 29, and 4 in the first IPL matches, knows the importance of being flexible when playing different types of cricket. “I believe it all comes down to your mindset, experience, and understanding of the game, as well as how much you prioritise the team. For me, the key question is always: What does my team need at this moment? Based on that, I shape my approach and play in a way that benefits the team.”he added.
