ミッチェル・マーシュは怪我から新鮮で、今ではイピピンでのスキルを示しています

Australia’s T20 skipper Mitchell Marsh might don the white jersey and the baggy green again with the national team. After losing his place from the Test Team, he still remains in the plan, according to national selector George Bailey. Although Marsh was dropped from the Test side ahead of the New Year’s Test against India, Bailey insists the all-rounder’s Test career isn’t over. He might get a chance in the Ashes series against England.

Potential against England

Marsh was replaced by Beau Webster after scoring just 73 runs across seven innings during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, Bailey believes Marsh’s ability to change the game with his aggressive batting style, especially against England’s pace-heavy attack.

Bailey commented, “I don’t necessarily think that his red-ball career is over. I still think there’s an incredibly exciting skill set there with the bat, the way he can rip a game open. If you look ahead to a team like England and the way they play their cricket and the way they seem to be framing up their team, I think he’s got a skill set there that could be helpful as well.”

Performance and role in White-Ball cricket, return in IPL

Marsh’s track record in Ashes contests is impressive, with an average of 47.07 against England compared to 24.13 against other nations. Despite missing the Champions Trophy in Pakistan due to a back injury, he has started well in the IPL with consecutive rapid fifties for Lucknow Super Giants. He remains on Australia’s national contract list for the 2025/26 season, reinforcing his role in white-ball cricket. Bailey said, “I still think he’s got an incredibly important role to play… I still think he can play an incredibly important role in setting that (T20) team up and hopefully leading that team to some success in the T20 World Cup.”

Concerns and future

There are still concerns regarding Marsh’s bowling, especially after his recent injury. Bailey discussed this, saying, “It’s an ongoing conversation as to where bowling may or may not fit into his international cricket going forward. I think he’s got plenty of one-day cricket left in him as well.” This shows that while Marsh’s role as a bowler is uncertain, he might feature in the team as a batter. He will be an important asset for the team in T20s and ODIs for sure.
