Dale Steyn jokingly welcomed Krunal Pandya to the ‘back pain’ club following his stellar show during the MI vs RCB game. Pandya, a spin bowler by trade, often mixed his lengths, even resorting to bowl a few bouncers to lead his side to another win in IPL 2025.

Bouncer = Back pain for Krunal?

Defending 221 at Wankhede, Krunal Pandya was one of the key players who eventually got RCB over the line. The left-arm spinner mixed his pace and lengths very well to keep the MI batters on their toes.

Often, the former MI star resorted to bowling the bouncer, surprising the opposition. That decision reaped rewards, with Will Jacks ultimately pulling one straight to Virat Kohli in the deep.

Later in the day, while fielding on the boundary, Krunal Pandya struggled with a sore back. The 34-year-old put in a dive to save a boundary, hurting his back a bit. He could be seen holding the lower section of his back, wincing in pain.

Dale Steyn, who has previously played for RCB and SRH, saw the fun side of the story. The former South African fast bowler joked that Krunal’s sore back was down to him bowling bouncers during the MI vs RCB game.

Krunal stars as RCB break Wankhede jinx

Despite the injury scare, Krunal Pandya bowled the final over of MI’s chase on Monday. Defending 19 off the final over, the left-arm spinner struck twice to end any hopes of an MI win.

The 34-year-old eventually finished with figures of 4/45 in his four overs, playing a monumental role in his side’s win. Having played for Mumbai previously, Pandya used his knowledge of the conditions well to hurt his former side’s chances of making the chase a successful. It was RCB’s first win at the Wankhede since 2015, ending a 10-year wait.
