Yes, the hype for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is at an all-time high but as soon as the ICC event gets over, the fever for the Indian Premier League (IPL) would kick in. We are talking about the much-awaited IPL 2025, whose starting date was updated on Sunday (Jan 12). BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla confirmed that the new season will begin on March 21. IPL 2025 Final will be on May 25.

Eden Gardens to host IPL 2025 Final & opening match

As has been the custom, the opening match of the new season will see defending champions host the fixture. Similarly, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will host the opening game at their iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata. While the exact schedule is yet to be revealed, it is expected to be announced later in January. KKR beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2024 final. Apart from this, Eden Gardens will also host the IPL 2025 Final. Incredibly, Eden Gardens will also see the opening IND vs ENG 1st T20I. While the season is scheduled to start on March 21, the final will be played on May 25, making it a 65-day affair. The last IPL final was hosted in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Prior to that, IPL 2022 and IPL 2023 finals were hosted by the biggest cricket stadium in the world, the Narendra Modi Stadium.

IPL 2025 Playoff venues

Apart from this, the IPL 2025 playoff venues are also confirmed by ESPNcricinfo. According to them, the IPL 2025 playoff will be played at the Eden Gardens and the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Well, the knockout system of IPL is a bit different. For those unaware, the top two ranked teams will play the Qualifier 1, which will be hosted in Hyderabad. The winner will directly qualify for the summit clash but the 3rd and 4th-finished teams will face in the Eliminator (again to be hosted in Hyderabad). The winner of the Eliminator and loser of Q1 will see battle in Q2 at the Eden Gardens.
