Former India Cricketer and coach Yograj Singh went on to reveal why Arjun Tendulkar stopped training under him. Sachin Tendulkar’s son was under the tutelage of Yuvraj Singh‘s father for a short while back in 2022. In fact, Arjun Tendulkar trained under Yograj for just a span of 12 days.

The association didn’t last long as the veteran coach revealed that people are afraid of name-picking. He revealed that the young all-rounder trained under him for 12 days and then went on to score a century in the Ranji Trophy. He claimed Arjun then went on to bag an IPL contract based on his domestic performances.

Yograj wanted to train Arjun for 1 year

Sachin Tendulkar’s son trained at Yograj’s cricket academy in Chandigarh for less than two weeks. And after the youngster got his Indian Premier League (IPL) contract he didn’t continue to train under Yograj Singh. “Sachin’s son. He comes here for 12 days and scores a hundred,” Yograj said on Unfiltered by Samdish.

“When he scored a hundred on debut and then came back to IPL, people feared that his (Arjun) name will get stuck with him (Yograj). Are you understanding my point?” Yograj continued.

Yograj revealed that the main reason for Arjun not training under him anymore was people didn’t want Arjun’s name to be associated with him anymore. “People are very afraid of name-sticking. I told Yuvi (Yuvraj) to call Sachin and ask him to give me Arjun for a year. See what happens after that,” added the 66-year-old.

Arjun Tendulkar has performed decently in domestic cricket over the years but has performed sporadically. He played 5 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians over the last 2 seasons. Come the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, he was rebought by Mumbai Indians for a price of 30 lakhs.
