BCCIが鞭打ち、インド人クリケット選手の妻、家族はツアー全期間滞在禁止：レポート

The BCCI is reportedly mulling to not allow the wives of Indian cricketers to stay with them throughout a series. The move comes after India’s 1-3 loss to Australia in IND vs AUS Test series. As per reports, the board is deliberating to reintroduce the rule where players will not be able to stay with their wives and girlfriends during overseas tours.

BCCI new rules for Indian cricketers

As per Dainik Jagaran, a source informed that the new rule states that a player’s wife cannot stay with him for more than 14 days if a tour lasts for 45 days. Similarly, for shorter tours, the cricketer will be allowed to stay with their partner only for seven days. The decision is being mulled as the board feels that the presence of family members impacts the player’s performances negatively.

“According to the new rule, for a tournament or a series lasting more than 45 days, the wife or family can stay with the player only for 14 days. However, for shorter tours, the limit on stay will be reduced to just seven days,” a source said.

Travel in team bus compulsory

Further, the BCCI has also decided to ban separate travel for players. According to the new rule, cricketers must travel only in the team bus. This comes after Yashasvi Jaiswal missed the team bus when the team was scheduled to depart from Adelaide and he was forced to take a car to the airport.

“Keeping in view the team unity, now all the players will travel by the team bus only. No matter how big a player is, he will not be allowed to travel separately,” the report added.

The above mentioned decisions, along with performance-based variable pay for indian cricketers, were taken during the review meeting that was held on Saturday at the BCCI headquarters. The meeting was attended by skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir, cheif selector Ajit Agarkar and other board members. The agenda was to review the performance of the team in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy series.
