Before the start of the IND vs AUS Pink Ball Test in Adelaide the India Cricket Team had banned fans from watching India’s net practice sessions. This was a result after some 3000 fans were in attendance and a couple of the Indian players were body shamed. Consequently, Team India then banned the entry of fans to watch their practice session.

After the conclusion of the IND vs AUS 2nd Test in Adelaide, India captain Rohit Sharma went on to address the media. He then went on to reveal what had happened and why fans were banned. The Indian skipper calmly explained that the net sessions are extremely private and thus they need to be protected.

No fans for Team India net sessions

“You know, the net sessions are very private, and this was the first time ever I saw so many people during the nets. And when you’re training, when you’re practising, there are a lot of conversation that happens, and those conversations are very private. We don’t want anyone to hear those conversations. It is as simple as that because there’s a lot of planning,” Rohit said in the press conference.

Rohit Sharma also claimed that during these net sessions a lot of talking takes place. And these talks essentially involve a lot of planning and thus need to be kept private.

“There’s a lot of talking that happens. And the crowds are very close to that practice facility. There are five days of Test cricket. They can come and watch us there,” Rohit concluded.
