PCB、PAK対WIのテストに先立ってパキスタンクリケットチームの特別スピンボウリングコーチを任命

パキスタンのクリケットチームは最近のテストシリーズで南アフリカに0-2で敗れた。

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made a strategic plan to appoint a new spin bowling coach for the Pakistan Cricket Team. Former Test cricketer Abdur Rehman will be joining the coaching staff right ahead of the Pakistan vs West Indies Test series at home. The sides will clash in a two-match Test series starting on 17th January with the first match in Multan.

While Abdur Rehman has previously had stints in coaching, this will be his first job at the national level. Previously he had worked in domestic setup. Interestingly, he was also a part of the setup for the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team.

Pakistan reinforces coaching staff

The move to appoint the new spinner coach looks strategic owing to the venue of the series. The Multan pitch is notoriously known to favor spinners and this is where Abdur’s expertise can come in handy. He has previously made 22 Test starts for his country where he managed to scalp 99 wickets. It is believed that his knowledge would greatly mentor young spinners like Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed.

It is believed that Rehman’s job won’t be easy. He joins a team that has performed poorly in the longest format of the game. Last month Pakistan was handed a humiliating 2-0 loss by South Africa in a 2-match Test series.

Coming to the series against West Indies, Pakistan will be a favorite as they will be playing at home. With both the matches taking place at Multan, it is of utmost importance that the spinners don’t lose their focus. While the Windies are not strong in playing spin, they can however take the bowlers for a toss. Thus the spinners can afford to let loose of their rein.
