At the 38th National Games 2025, she won three gold medals, and also set a new national record in the women’s 200m freestyle category. Dhinidhi Desinghu Smashes Own National Record
The 14-year-old shaved off a second to clock 2:03.24s now. Post that, she went on to win gold medals in the women’s 100m butterfly, and then another in 4x100m freestyle relay team. In comparison to performance at the Paris Olympics, this was a much better show.. there she had clocked a poor 2:06.96s to finish overall 23rd in the event.
Expect More Golds at National Games
A similar performance at the Olympics would have ensured a top-20 finish for Dhinidhi, who has been churning out decent performances for some time now. Having said that, there is a long way to go for the Bengaluru girl, to make it big on the world stage. Just to put things into perspective, the gold medal winner at the Olympics last year clocked 1:55.79s, to win the top prize; Mollie O’Callaghan of Australia.
The lowest-placed swimmer in the final — Maria Fernanda also clocked 1:56.65s. On the other hand, Odisha’s Shristi Upadhaya and Bengal’s Snigdha Ghosh did excellently well in the 100m butterfly, taking their respective states to a podium finish.
