Indian badminton players Kidambi Srikanth, who is former world number 1 and Sankar Muthusamy Subramanian were defeated in their men’s singles quarterfinal matches at the Thailand Masters Super 300 tournament on Friday. Srikanth lost to China’s Zheng Xing Wang with scores of 17-21, 16-21. Subramanian, who was once the world’s top junior player, was unable to beat another Chinese opponent, Xuan Chen Zhu, and lost with scores of 21-19, 18-21, 13-21 after a match lasting one hour and 10 minutes.

Later in the competition, the Indian men’s doubles team of Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and K. Sai Pratheek, seeded eighth, is set to compete against the second seeds, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Daniel Marthin from Indonesia. Additionally, Indian player Rakshitha Ramraj will compete against Thailand’s Thamonwan Nithiittikrai in the women’s singles quarterfinal.
