Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the ongoing tri-series in Pakistan and could be out of the ICC Champions Trophy as well. The express pacer was at his absolute best against New Zealand in the ongoing tri-series, which involves South Africa and hosts Pakistan. However, in his seventh over, Haris seemed to have hurt himself. He immediately walked back to the pavilion and didn’t return to bowl again.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) later revealed that Haris felt pain in the left side of the chest and abdomen muscles. PCB confirmed that he has a low-grade side strain but didn’t reveal whether he’ll fit in time for the 8-team tournament.

According to Tribune.com.pk, Haris Rauf won’t feature in the ongoing tri-series and is uncertain to make the ICC Champions Trophy. The PCB is looking to find another quick who can help Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. Three names have emerged as like-for-like replacements: Mohammad Wasim Jr., Mohammad Ali, and Akif Javed.

Akif will replace Haris in the tri-series and could play against South Africa at the National Stadium in Karachi on February 12. Pakistan has until 11:59 PM on February 11 to announce their final squad for the ICC Champions Trophy. However, the ICC will accept changes to the team in case of an injury.

Pakistan has already lost Saim Ayub to injury and would hope that they don’t lose Haris now. As the defending champions and the host of the tournament, they are the favourites to win. But the loss of a top pacer but hit their chances of victory.
