Madhya Pradesh skipper Rajat Patidar was in no mood to entertain wrong decisions in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final against Mumbai. The batter stood firmly at the centre despite the the third umpire adjudging the delivery as not a wide, forcing the latter to reconsider and overturn his decision. Patidar, who is MP’s leading run-scorer in the current edition of SMAT, has been in top-form and once again played a lone-warrior knock to power MP to 174 runs in the 1st innings.

The incident occurred when Shardul Thakur was bowling to the Madhya Pradesh captain. A slower delivery that was bowled outside the popping crease was adjudged not wide by third umpire K Anandapadmanabhan and hence the on-field umpire’s decision was overturned. Instead of walking back, Patidar stayed firm in his crease and asked the umpires to see the replay once again. When the third umpire did have another look at the delivery, he admitted his mistake saying “extremely sorry” and asked the on-field umpire to stick to his original decision.
