元パキスタンのコーチであるGillespieは、セレクターとPCBが干渉した場合、パキスタンのチームが成功する可能性があると推定しました。
Former Pakistan cricket team coach Jason Gillespie believes that the side can beat India if the selectors and the PCB allow coaches to manage the team. The ex-Australian pacer had parted ways with the team earlier in 2024 after he was stripped off powers, including making calls in selection matters. Gillespie pinned the blame on the selectors and the board for Pakistan’s Champions Trophy debacle.

“Pakistan can beat India if…”
Speaking to Times of India, Gillespie disagreed with Gavaskar’s remarks stating that India’s B team could beat Pakistan. He said that the Men in Green can beat their arch-rivals if the right players are picked and the selectors & PCB leave the managing of the team to the coaches. He said that there were plenty of talented players in Pakistan, adding that picking them without the interference of the Pakistan Cricket Board could lead to a successful Pakistan side.
“I don’t agree that there is a lack of talent in Pakistan. If the selectors pick the right players and selectors & board leave the managing of the team to the coaches, then Pakistan can beat India,” Gillespie said.

Gillespie had earlier revealed that he was a mere spectator after being stripped off all powers as head coach. Instead, the PCB had decided to give all the powers to the Aaqib Javed-led selection committee. This forced the Australian to part ways with the team.
“There are plenty of talented players in Pakistan. Identify the talented ones, give them opportunities and support them without the interference of the board, and you’ll see a successful Pakistan team,” Gillespie added.
Pakistan finished their dismal Champions Trophy campaign without winning even a single contest. They were beaten by New Zealand by 60 runs in their tournament opener. They then lost to India by 6 wickets. Their final fixture against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was washed out.
